Legal Question in Tax Law in Louisiana

Our hunting club (10 members) leases land from a company. I want to make a LLC. and I was told we could get Tax Exempt, for buy feed, etc. I know I would have to get a LLC, Tax ID. How do we file for Tax exempt? Would that mean we would have to set the LLC as non-profit? Can someone help me know what to do in this matter. I want to set it up to protect me personally, because I'm the one who signs the agreement with the land owner. I'm getting up in age and don't want something to happen to me and my family. Thank you! James

It is fairly easy to set up the LLC but the nonprofit will be tricky. You will definitely need a lawyer familiar with tax matters. You can set up a single member-manager LLC and it will serve the purpose of protecting you.
