Legal Question in Traffic Law in Louisiana
I think I have a bench warrant out for 2 traffic tickets and failure to appear.I was recently stopped for speeding but I was not arrested. Im 21 years old an I have never been in trouble before the reason I did not show up in court because I was scared never had to deal with court before. So since I was not arrested what does this mean is there still a warrant I was just givin another speeding ticket by the officer.

Yes, if there was a bench warrant out for your arrest, it is probably still out there. It is best to get it taken care of now, before you are arrested. You aren't going to be arrested if you or your attorney simply go to the traffic court and have the case reset for trial. All you'll have to do is pay a fine for contempt for failing to appear at your last hearing. And, unless you already pleaded guilty, you can still even fight the original charge. My best advice is to find a local attorney in the parish where the original ticket is pending and have the attorney take care of it for you. You should be able to find a local attorney that handles traffic matters here on the LawGuru site. I don't do much work in the Houma area. I work mainly in the Orleans and Jefferson parish area.
