Legal Question in Traffic Law in Louisiana

Drivers License and Registration

The guy I hit at an intersection was stopped and blocking my right of way. I pulled off from the stop sign and hit the side rear of his truck. There was no sign stating ''do not block intersection''. He has Alabama license plate and has been living and working here for 6 months that I know of. Shouldn't he have received a ticket for not changing his drivers license or license plate? I was barely going 5mph when I hit his vehicle and now he has been seeing a Chiropractic for 8 weeks so far. Is he partually at fault for stopping in the intersection? I have 10-20-10 coverage. What happens if his chiropractic bills exceed $10,000?

Re: Drivers License and Registration

The fact that he is from another state and living and working there for six months has nothing to do with you hitting the side of his truck. If he was already stopped in the intersection and blocking it and you had a stop sign you were at fault for not waiting until this intersection was clear. Hope that he has UM coverage and Med pay.

Next time Wait until the intersection is clear.
