can i get a fine for no insurance if i have insurance?

You can get a fine for having no PROOF of insurance. You are required to be insured and to have PROOF of insurance in your vehicle at all times. If you did not have proof of insurance, the ticket is valid. Nevertheless, every DA I have ever met has always been willing to dismiss a no proof of insurance ticket if you appear in court and show proof that you have insurance and that you were insured on the date you got the ticket. Get that proof from your insurance company (proof that the policy was obtained and further proof that it was never cancelled) and bring it to the DA. They will most likely dismiss the ticket for you.
