Legal Question in Traffic Law in Louisiana
Does a local ordinance over rule a state law? I received a careless operation ticket for being stuck in the mud on the side of the road. The ticket says local ordinance - careless operation.

It is not about overruling. It is about who collects the fine. Charging someone with violating a local ordinance means the local (municipal or parish) court collects the fine instead of the district court. As long as the local ordinance does not have a larger penalty than the state law it is legal.
