Legal Question in Traffic Law in Louisiana
I was recently backed into by a Sheriff where my vehicle was parked three inches front the edge of the road in which there was no sholder only a ditch. The sheriff backed into my rear car door at a 45 degree angle and scratched the paint but luckly the panels are plastic and didnt shatter. Is it legal for the sheriff who backed into me to write me a ticket that all it says is involved in accedent and in the reason for issueing the ticket it says parked in roadway with no payment just a court date. Can the sherrif who hit me be able to write me a ticket because to me that means he's trying to cover is but? and he should be liable. and not me what should i do?

Fight the ticket. Show up on the court date and plead not guilty. A trial date will be set. Show up prepared. I would also get an estimate for painting the damaged parts of the car from a respected body shop (or if you had this done already, the bill). Make a copy of that estimate & attach it to a letter you write to the sheriff (the deputy's boss) demanding payment for the damage his employee caused.
