Legal Question in Traffic Law in Louisiana
Speeding
If you are speeding more than 30 mph over the speed limit, does it warrant an arrest? Does more than 500 dollars seem excessive for fines and the cost of an impounded vehicle? If you are being held (in jail) can a family member or friend bail you via credit card? If they wire the money, who should they wire it to? Thank you in advance for you time.

Re: Speeding
A ticket (summons) ia an alternative to arrest, therefore if you can be ticketed you legally can be arrested. Many jurisdictions have a completely legal policy of arrest for exceeding the speed limit by a large margin.
Impound costs are generally paid to the wrecker company and after the initial towing costs (which can vary in the real marketplace) the daily storage fee is generally set by a local ordinance.
Whether or not a person can be bailed out by credit card transfer varies. If the money is being paid directly to the jailing authority (like a sheriff) then it depends if that authority is set up to handle the transaction. I am certain that a bondsman can be paid by credit card.
If the sheriff is not set up to recieve a wire transfer of money (and most are not) contact a local attorney to receive the money (from Western Union) and take it to the jail. A small fee may be charged but the money would get there.
