Legal Question in Traffic Law in Louisiana
Speeding Ticket receieved - Ticket has inaccurate information on it
I recently was caught speeding in Louisiana in a small (very small) by the Deputy Sheriff.
When i received the ticket i noticed ome glaring inaccurate informaiton on it:
1. The date of the incident was inaccurately listed. This incident happened on December 15th, the ticket states that the incident happened on December 23rd (tomorrow, by the way)
2. Secondly, the officer completely butchered by legal name.
My name is FIRST MIDDLE LAST -- which is also the name on my drivers license.
He listed the name on the summons as ''MIDDLE NAME then the first letter of my LASTNAME then my FIRST NAME'' which is totally wrong
thoughts?

Re: Speeding Ticket receieved - Ticket has inaccurate information on it
Tomorrow go several places where the date will be clearly recorded far from that part of Louisiana. Maybe make some land-line phone calls, long distance of course and a few identity recorded purchases (credit cards are nice for this). Anything that proves that you were far from Louisiana on that date. You might even have someone else get the oil changed in the car you were driving on that date. You could even video yourself buying a local morning paper wherever you are. Make sure to get a nice close-up of the front page and the sports page (filled with events that will happen tonight). Get a receipt for that paper.
Next, plead Not Guilty to the ticket and get a trial date. At trial prove you were not near that parish on that date. One of the elements of an offense is that it occurred on or about the date charged. 8 days later is a long time and probably nobody will notice until you bring it up, so don't mention it until the trial has begun (first witness sworn).
The name thing might be forgiveable by the judge. The date should not be.
