Legal Question in Traffic Law in Louisiana
I was stopped for a traffic violation and as it turns out my drivers license was suspended due to an unpaid traffic ticket. The officer arrested me, handcuffed me, threw me in a cell until I paid the new
violation in cash, including the driving while under suspension ticket. When the ticket was paid, I was told this wouldn't go on my driving record and they released me.
Is that procedure normal? The reason for the the suspension was an unpaid PARKING TICKET.

Your suspension was caused by your failure to appear at court to either pay the fine or dispute it. Since you were driving without a valid license and there was a bench warrant for you, the appropriate action by the police was arrest.
