Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

I have a 3 year old son whose father was killed on 06/14/15 in an auto accident. His father was at fault. His father is still legally married. His father had two insurance policy at work. One of the policy did not have any beneficiary listed. His father did not have a living will or estate. Is my son entitled to any thing from that policy?

If the policy had no beneficiary listed, the proceeds would go to dad's estate and be inherited by his son.
