Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

I was adopted by my mothers husband when I was 3, the only father I have ever known. 9 yrs later they had a daughter. My question is..she is now the executor of his will. We have been estranged for a while (sister). When my father dies, and my mother is still living, will I have a fight on my hands? And then what happens when my mother dies? I do know my father has a will. This is in Louisiana, I cannot find much about this situation. What exactly does an executor do?

An executor is to make sure the wishes of the deceased are carried out. As an adopted child, you are treated just as if born into the union. If a will is drawn up, it will control. When your father dies, your mother will have Usufruct over the community property unless the will states differently. Only your fathers separate property will be divided between his children at that time unless the will states differently.
