Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

my dad died about 2 and half weeks ago he lives in the state of La i live in the state of Ga im the only child his nver been married i m not able to go down there and ten to this matter my mom live in the same place as him a friend of my mom and dad talked to a lawyer and told us all we needed to do was for me to go to a lawyer up here in ga and do a power of attorney so the lawyer up here faxed the power of attorney to the lawyer in la hes the one that said that what i need to do then when he got the papers from up here he told me that i have to do are open a succession he said i have to go all the way down there just to sign it there is on way that i can get down there wish i could my dad only had about enoungh stuff to sell and creammate him can the law down there stop my mom from going to his house and get all the titles to the small moble home and two boats and a motor bike we need the titles to be able to go to a loan company and get the money so we can put him to rest hes all ready been dead for two and a half weeks when my mom went there to get stuff the law told her that no one not even me can take any thing that it has to go to court for what i dont know he had no will and no wife not even a girl friend i all ready had to talk to the law because one of my dads friend went and toke the motor bike i got the law to get it back is there any form i cand print up from on line i could print it and bring it to a lawyer and get it noterized and fax are bring it back home and scran it back to my computer and send it to my moms email and she could take it and the power of attorneys to the clerk of courts and file it her self if i have to be down there in person it wont happan i dont have the money are a car im only tring to put my dad to rest he should not have sat in there this long but i cant really do much please any thing u could tell me to help me put and in to this matter we dont really have the money even if we sold every thing it wouldnt be enough for an attorney and to put him to rest the things he left behinda are old the motor bike is the only thing that mite bring a little money then its only about $1500 thanks for all ur time to listin to my case thanks for any info u are able to give me thanks

You may be able to get an attorney from the local Legal Services. Titles cannot be changed or encumbered without the succession being done. You can execute a power of attorney giving your mother the authority to transact all business with regards to the succession.
