What are my daughters rights?
Father dies leaves one child (female). She is 17 at time of his death. She was told be father there is a will. Now grandparents refuse to let daughter have anything that belongs to father. Grandparent are giving away belongings of her father to other people. They refuse to let her see the ''will''. She is now 19 and I am trying to find out what her legal rights are.She was told that her aunt would be exqutor of the so called estate. Don't they have to produce the will at a specific time? Can she force the family to give her her fathers things? Isn't she his heir?
She is his only child.

In Louisiana a child under the age of 23 at the time of the parent's death is a "forced heir" and has significant inheritance rights (even superseding a will).
She should contact a lawyer immediately.

Your daughter should immediately get in contact with an attorney that practices probate law in the area where her father resided. If in Louisiana, I can't answer the specifics, since I'm only familiar with Texas law. If he lived in Texas, and was not married, your daughter would be entitled to all of his property.
