Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

my family hired a lawyer on my father's estate.He had married a woman about three yrs before he died.The attorney said that since he had been dead going on 10 years that the fake trust that his wife had a lawyer draw should be treated as it is real since we were on the 10 year mark and she had been dead 2 years.We had to pay 5000.00 up front and keep the so called kitty filled with 2000.00.This attorney charged for a meeting they had with other attorneys and we asked what about and was informed they didn't have to tell us.Then anytime we called we were charged and only 2% of those calls we got a return call.It was apparent they checked their caller ID.We were charged for mistakes made by them.Kept a whole hour for them to praise how wonderful they were so they could get that whole hour of pay.We even had to pay for a receipt when we sent a check to keep the kitty filled.Now they want 5000.00 and we don't owe them that because they always had the money in the kitty to take from and would not do anthing unless it was there. Is this proper?What can be done?This town has each other hands in each other pockets and we had hoped going out of town would be better.Now we are broke and bankrupt and their living high on the hog.I need advice from someone that has not become a shark.
