my father had a major stroke last week and has no power of attorney. he is not married, but has myself and my sister and has sisters and a brother. how do we handle his affairs?

If he is capable of signing his name, he can still sign a power of attorney. If not, you may have to have him interdicted, which is a difficult court process.
