My father passed and left behind a lot of debt.If his kids do a succession will we be responsible for his debt ?

Yes, but only up to the value of his assets. You will not be out of pocket.

Some expenses, such as funeral costs and medical bills, are privileged, and are paid before the ordinary creditors, like credit card debts, are paid.
