Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

My father recently passed away. He had a will that he left his exgirlfried the executer. she has not probated the will nor does she have the money to probate the will. there is insurance money that she is not aware of. I received two checks in the mail today that is addressed to the estate of my father and the bank he had mortaged the house with. the mortage on the house had its own insurance so it paid itself off. can this check be cashed by me?

You will have to file a succession. Anyone-heir or creditor can file the succession-it does not have to be executor. You can have her removed as she is not fulfilling your father's wishes.
