Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana
My father-in-law has never divorced my mother-in-law although they have not lived together in about 35 to 40 years. They did get a legal seperation. He has sent my mother-in-law monthly checks to help with her support since her retirement. They have two children (both in their 60's)
My father-in-law has had a girlfriend for most of the period he has been seperated (he has bought her a house down the street from him.
Does she have an right to his property when he dies. It is not known if he has a will or not.

Yes. She needs to speak to a family law attorney. Her issues are far too complex to work out online. However, the short answer is that she is certainly entitled to her portion of the community property and there is almost certainly still community property.
