what form would i have to use to file a succession my father died and im told i have to file are open a succession

It depends on how much property he had. If he owned any real estate (a home, vacant lot, etc.), you must file a regular succession. You will need an attorney for that. If he owned no real estate and his estate was not large, you may be able to file an affidavit under the rules for small successions. The clerk of court in your parish can help you with that. Remember, no matter how small or large the estate, if there is ANY real estate involved, you cannot use the small succession form.
