Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana
My Grandfather died without a Will. He left behind property with a house on it. My grandparents had two children. After my grandfathers death the property and home goes to the kids. The property was acquired by my grandfather before he married my grandmother. Who gets the property? Since my grandfathers passing my grandmother lost the house to a natural disaster. She purchased another home that is built on the property. This is the main question. The new home was put in my grandmothers name and mines, her grandson. My grandmother has since passed away. Does the house belong to me or is it 50% mine and 50% my mom and uncle? She did not leave a Will. This is taking place in Louisiana.

You need to open the succession of your grandfather and the succession of your grandmother. It can be done in one filing. Then you can determine who owns what. Without the successions, nothing can be done with immovable property (land). If the property was your grandfather's, then at death ownership goes to his heirs. As far as whether grandmother had a right to live there or get insurance money or build another house has to be worked out in the courts.
