If you write out your own will and have it notarized, is it valid in the State of Louisiana?

A handwritten will is valid in Louisiana only if it is entirely written, dated, and signed in the handwriting of the person making the will. It does not have to be formally witnessed or notarized; however, it is a good idea to have a close friend or family member [an adult who is not a beneficiary in the will] watch the person write the will.

Any changes to the will must be made in the handwriting of the testator.
