Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

I own land in Louisana and reside out of state. What is the best way to pass the land along to my heirs? I was told that I can't will Louisana property unless I have residency there? Is that true?

That is silly. Whoever told you that does not like you, or Louisiana or is just stupid. You pick. You can will it to them or sell it to them or donate it to them. You decide. If you write a will in your state and it is legal in that state, then if you give away land in Louisiana or any other state, it will be done as you wish. Tell your knowledgable friend to look up something called the "good faith and credit."
