He left everything to me

In his Will he left everything to me,his companion of 22yrs. Now his three kids forth died prior to fathers passing . Want claim to a ring the father had given to his wife and by note saying (written by one of the children)that the ring should go to the one that died (he was living than)he declined it.The father asked what should I do with it? The son said ''give it to your companion''.So,I have it in my possession .Are they right saying because it was my mothers? The mother died intestate.,yet are entitled to half of mother's estate

If the ring was the mother's property (including a gift to her from him) it is the children's property since she died intestate.

If the mother's succession has not been settled then prepare to work with these people. Her half of the community property belongs to her heirs, not to you. You need to figure out what's yours and what's theirs.

Begin with rule # 1: Anything that belonged to mom belongs to her kids.
