Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana
Louisiana Death In Family
I recently had an uncle pass away in Louisiana. He was the last know relative on my dad's side of the family. I just found out that a cousin whom I have never met was handling everything. This cousin will not acknowledge us and did so by leaving us out of even the obituary notice. How do I know that if there is a will, and I am assuming that there is, I will receive anything that was left to me. I do not know, but if this cousin is an executer of the will, does this mean she can do whatever she see's fit? I feel as if she may be trying to take everything. What should I do? Do I need to hire an attorney? I have always heard that Louisiana law was completly different than anywhere else in the country. Any suggestions would be of big help. Thanks.

You need to get the services of an attorney in Louisiana, who practices in or near the parish where your uncle resided.
