Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

In Monroe, Louisian. My brother just died. There was no will. He was divorced with 2 adult children. His 2 children want to donate his pickup truck to me. The title is clear with no liens against it. The pickup truck is being stored at my house in Swartz, La. The title to the pickup truck is also here at my house. What legal action/paperwork is required to have title transferred to my name?

The succession would have to be opened. They could give you their share via a notarial act filed in the succession proceedings, or in an act of donation signed afterwards. Either way, you have to open the succession.

There is no reason to open a succession in the case of this truck. You simply go to the DMV and they can give you the form, or, you can get it off line, and in it they swear they are the only heirs and donate the truck to you. It is all done before a notary public with the donation and title to DMV and that should do it. I have done this many times.
