Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

My mother died in 2007, and my father moved in with my sister, where he stayed until his death in 2009. I am one of 3 heirs to their estate. The house has yet to be sold, along with some stocks, to settle the estate. I live out of state and am being left out of the loop as to what or when this will be resolved. What can be done? The house has remained vacant for over 5 years. Is there a statute of limitations in Louisiana to get complete resolution of a will?

Did your parents have wills? If so, did the wills name an Esecutor? The Executor is the person responsible for identifying and distributing your parents' assets.

If no wills, or if wills do not name an Executor, then any heir (yourself included) can act as Executor, and get the job done.
