Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

My mother in law was appointed executor of her mothers estate when she passed. Her mother's husband was still alive, but in bad health. His mind was slipping away from him and at one point he had my mother in law arrested for using the car that was left behind after her mother's death. When this happened, my mother in law's brother, who had not been in the picture for years prior to the death, says he had himself re-appointed as the new executor of the estate. Is this even possible. If so how long would it have taken to have had this process completed? Would she have been given any paperwork or documentation that stated the change of executor? He is now threatening to file a lean on the property, based on what grounds we have no idea? We are in Louisiana and have no idea how we should handle this situation.

Your mother in law cannot be removed as executrix without court order. It looks like your mother in law may need to engage the services of a Louisiana Estate Lawyer to represent her interests and the interests of the Estate.
