Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana
My mother owns her home and is asking our advice on doing a Reverse Mortgage and putting one sibling (there are 10 siblings) on the Mortgage. Do the other 9 have a right to expect an inheritance or share of the house, others are saying that the one who will be on the mortgage should give each of the other 9 siblings $2,500 which would be a reasonable share in the home. It's my mother's home, shouldn't she be able to do what she wants with the house, can't she will the house to one person or does she have to will the house to all 10 children equally?

None of the 10 have a RIGHT to anything! How brash! If I was the mother's attorney, I would advise her to make a will and give everything she has to her best friend and leave all the kids out.....or if the one child is worthy leave everything to that one and ZERO to the rest. It happened in my family, so I know from personal experience how greedy some people are.......how someone thinks they are OWED something when they did NOTHING to earn it. That is what is wrong with this country today.....too many people think they have a RIGHT to something they never earned. I am curious, of the 10 children, have any of them told their mom they love her lately......that is, without an ulterior motive?
