Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

My mother passed away in Aug 2012 i know she has a will and a life insurance policy that im the beneficiary on but my step father wont allow me access to any possesions or information concerning her affairs. I need to know how to go about getting the information like a copy of the will and how to find out what company the policy is with

Has your setpfather opened your mother's succession? If so, you can get a copy of the will from the record, If not, you can open the succession and demand that the stepfather produce the will for filing and execution. In the proceess, you can discover who the life insurer is, then get claim forms from the insurer to process your benefits claim
