Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

Sheriff's Sale of Heir Property

What is the best legal procedure to take in order to stop a scheduled sheriff's sale of heir property if you do not have sufficient funds to cover the amount that is in arrears? This sherriff's sale is scheduled for October 17, 2007. None of the heirs were notified--we learned of it from friends in our hometown in Louisiana at which time they observed the legal notice in the local newspaper.

Assuming the notice was improper as you suggest, you could get a temporary restraining order. That might allow time to get money. But, it's probably going to take money to pay off the arrears.
