Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

My son's father is deceased. His grandmother (father's mother) recently died and his grandfather (father's father) is not expected to make it through the end of the year.

Does my son, the grandchild, have any claim to any part of his grandparent's estate since his father passed away before both of his partens? All concerned live in Louisiana.

If your son can prove who his father is, and the people you are referring to are truly the paternal grandparents, then your son has a right to inherit an interest in his father's inheritance equal to his right to inherit from his father generally. That is, if he is the sole heir, then he gets all his father's interest in the grandparents' succession that would come to his father. If his father had other children, then his inheritance would be reduced by their shares. Assuming there are no wills that would give the property to others, then you son stands in the place of his father. Didn't your son inherit anything when his father passed away? If not, why not?
