Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana
Uninformed about being named in the will.
My grandmother died 5 years ago. I was 26 years old at the time. Recently I came across a copy of her will at the court house, as I was doing research on property I was considering buying.
Much to my suprise I was named in the will and was left, specific and non specific items of jewerly. My father and Uncle were named co-excecutors and signed letters stating that the would see to it that the will was carried out as specificied.
It was not? I never even even knew I was named in the will.
A local attorney handled the probate.
I have not spoken to my father or uncle in a couple of years and do not know their whereabouts.
What can I do?
Was the lawyer responsible for notifing me, that I was named in the will?
Do I have grounds to sue the lawyer for not notifing me?
Or grounds to sue my father and uncle for not appropoately dispursing the items that were left to me?
What can I do if those items have been since disposed of by my father and uncle.
Please help?

Re: Uninformed about being named in the will.
Contact a lawyer of your own immediately.
You need to see how many of these assets you can recover and learn how to proceed against those who now owe you. This definitely includes the administrators of the estate. Research must be done before it can be known if the lawyer has any responsibility.
