No Will - One Child is Sole Survivor
my mother died in nov. my sister, her daughter died in april six months apart. mother left annuity and bank accounts to sister. my sister died first. do i have to open succession on my sister and mother. who gets my sister's and mother's belongings? i am the only child living. she only had 2 children and was divorced. i am the only child left. do i inherit my sister's and mother's estate? my sister was not married and had no children.

Not enought facts to fully answer the question. For example, I have to assume that you sister had no will. For if your sister had a will, all her possessions, including the annuity, go that way --not back to you. Reading a bit into your question, it would appear (guarded, here) you may be entitled to it all. Any found will changes this analysis. Depending on each person's status as a resident you may be right. There are many other factors to consider and other parties who may be involved. You should speak to an attorney to formulate the best strategy for handeling this. You may be the person entitled to both estates, however, you will probably also be the person in charge of handeling this task.
