Is a will valid in Louisiana if it has not been probated

If the will meets the form requirements under Louisiana law, it is valid - it is not effective until a succession has been opened and it is executed and recorded and the legatees are put in possession by judgment of possession in accordance with the terms of the will

A will is simply a piece of paper until it is probated and proven up as authentic.
