What year did Louisiana require a succession rather than allowing an Affidavit of Death and Heirship to place heirs into possession of property?

Louisiana has always required that a succession be opened, but now. depending on the circumstances, heirs can be placed into possession by affidavits, a much simpler and less expensive method.

There must be no will, and the value of the estate must be less than $75,000.00.
