Injury Question For My Mother

The question that I have is For my mother, She was working for a well established company and hurt her back in the year of 2000 and she have an attorney and yes workerscompensation had been awarded but now in 2007 her injury has worsen and he has never sent her to a doctor, but only allow the company to suggest to her the doctor she needs to see. Now my question is should this attorney be fired and we find a new one, and can she sue for pain and suffering so that she can see a doctor that will tell her what is really wrong with her and not be afraid of the company?

Why do you still have an attorney? Is you mother paying him a percentage of each check? Your mother has a right to go to a doctor of her choice.
