Legal Question in Workers Comp in Louisiana

How it all works

I am presently on workers' compensation for a back injury sustained at work. I've been receiving $500 per week since 11/2007. I am scheduled to have an fce done, and have been told that i need back surgery which i don't want to have. Does having the surgery or not affect my settlement amount?
