Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Maine
financial forms
even though one party of a marriage is filing for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy does
the financial data of the spouse have to be filled out completely ????

A person filing for bankruptcy must fill out the forms completely and honestly, otherwise he or she will be in big trouble.
A spouse is not, however, normally liable for debts of the other spouse, just by virtue of the marriage.
You probably should consult a lawyer to review your entire situation. If you can't afford one, try Legal Aid. Most bar associations also have a panel of lawyers willling to work for a rduced fee.
