Legal Question in Business Law in Maine
what compensation am i entitled to if i stayed at a hotel with bed bugs
1 Answer from Attorneys
As a Franchise Attorney I can only say the following. For compensation, you need to establish two things. The first is liability, and let's assume there's no problem here - you can prove the room had bed bugs (you took pictures, etc.). The second and more difficult element to establish is damages. Other than inconvenience, how were you damaged, and to what extent? Your best course is to probably contact the hotel if you haven't already done so and request a refund. If it's a major franchise chain, you can go up the chain of command if necessary. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
