Legal Question in Business Law in Maine
Noncompete clause
My employment agreement has expired with my company. It has a noncompete clause that extends 5 years after the employment agreement expires. I believe this is excessive and would like to get out of it. Do I have any options?

Re: Noncompete clause
This is the type of question that cannot be readily answered via email, and would require a consultation to obtain all the facts and review of the language of the document in question.
However, I will say that although 5 years is on the edge of permissible timeframes, it is not categorically unreasonable.
