Legal Question in Business Law in Maine
resignation rights
I gave a 1 week resignation in writing that my employer accepted. Then the morning of my next scheduled shift I get a phone call saying they won't be needing me anymore. Do they have to pay me for the week notice I gave them? What are my rights?

Re: resignation rights
Do you have a contract or employee manual that covers the situation? If so that will be important. Otherwise, Maine is an "employee at will" state, meaning an employee can be let go at anytime (provided it is not for an impermissible reason) and an employee can leave whenever they want.
You have the statutory right to all of your unpaid vacation and salary upon your next payperiod. I do not know enough facts to know if the notice you gave that was "accepted" obligates them to pay for the week, but I doubt it unless the employee manual requires you to give such notice.
