Legal Question in Technology Law in Maine

Email privacy

I have been emailing a person and receiving email from her for several months. They have been personal emails. She has her own email account, in her name; but I believe the computer is owned by her husband (or at least jointly) and the internet acocunt I'm not sure of. Her husband has downloaded all the emails onto a disk, and has read them. Is this an invasion of my privacy? Do I have any rights to get him to destroy the copy (disk) he made of the emails? Where can I learn more about my rights with regard to emails and privacy on the internet?
