Lien on property
I gave a contractor 15,000.00 to do some excavating that never got done. He is now going to trial for theft, has hired a defense attorney, etc. I put a property lien on his personal property and now the house is going into foreclosure. His lawyer sent me a threatening letter claiming that if I ddidn't remove the lien, I would be held libel and in slander of this guy's name(he owes people in the area over $300,000). Do I have to remove this lien and if not can he do anything to me legally for not removing it? I see it as the only way I can get my money back. Thank you.

I hope you had a judgment when you placed the lien on his property. Otherwise it is called Slander of Title.

Mr. Anderson is correct; you should have an attorney read the letter and go over the facts with you.
