Legal Question in Consumer Law in Maine
Tobacco Sales
I live in the state of Maine and I work at a gas station. Today I denied sales of tobacco to a person who could not provide ID and when his father came in asking if he could buy them for him I said no. Word of this got up to head management and they are now telling us that we must sell tobacco to the of age person, even if we know or have reasonable knowledge that they are purchasing for a minor or a person who can not prove their age. I do not agree with this and in fact think it is illegal. They are threatening to fire me if I do not comply. Any advice for me?

if you want to continue in job then you have to do what they say but morally you are doing right.
write a complaint in this regard to the police chief and tell them the story. i hope the things will be better.
