Re: How do I attach property to collect a debt?

The first issue to consider is the context of the debt collection. Is this related to the divorce? Does the Divorce Judgment deal with this debt? If not, and the debt arose after the divorce, then it would be treated like any other collection matter. If this is the case, you would need to file a Complaint with the Court and you can make a Motion to attach his assets before Judgment upon an affidavit and showing of urgent circumstances as required by the Rules. Otherwise attachment can be made only after judgment is obtained. The requirements for the process of attachment are somewhat technical and it is advisable that you consult with a local attorney.
