statue of limitations, which state do you go by

For statue of limitations of a debt, is it the state i first stop paying in or the state i live in now?

If you owe on a debt and are forcing the credit to sue you to collect, then the statute of limitations that would apply should be the statute in effect for the state in which you would be sued. The only exception I can think of to this is if the fine print of the credit agreement establishes a different state's law applying.
