Re: dui

The Bureau of Motor Vehicles sets the rules for how long it stays on your record....typically, it never comes off your record. However, for insurance purposes, it is a factor in determining your rates over the next 7-10 years with most companies. To get your license back, you need to satisfy whatever requirments were imposed at the time of license suspension. In Maine, you typically have to complete the Driver Education and Evaluation Program, or in the alternative, obtain substance abuse evaluation and counseling with a person that is approved by the Bureau. Additionally, you need to contact the Bureau to ask for reinstatement of your license, as well as pay the fee to do so. Good luck!
