Legal Question in DUI Law in Maine

OUI and Deep Course

I was wondering if I had to take the deep course on my first offense of OUI. I've been driving with a clean record for 17 years

Re: OUI and Deep Course

If you have been to an administrative hearing where the hearing officer suspended your license with a finding of OUI, or if you have an OUI conviction from a court, then you are required to either (1) do the DEEP course; or (2) get a substance abuse evaluation and follow up with recommended counseling through an approved counselor. The Bureau of Motor Vehicles has all the information about the time and place of DEEP, as well as a list of counselors. If your OUI charges are still pending, then I suggest you get a legal opinion about your defense. Good luck. Thank you for your inquiry.
