Legal Question in Family Law in Maine
I was awarded a portion of my ex husband miltary retirement. I need to clarify the order because our marriage is written in years and in needs to be translated into months for dfas to accept. 1. Do i need to go before a judge and hire a lawyer. 2. Does my ex need to be present with just a rewording and 3. Can he fight to take that away from me even though it was awarded in my divorce 6 yrs ago?

You do not need to hire an attorney, but it is advisable in this situation as it is specialized area of the law. You should get an attorney experienced with DFAS and military divorces. You will have to file a motion and put your ex on notice of the hearing.
