Legal Question in Family Law in Maine
Child Support
Hi, I am a kenyan citizen. I am the mother to two lovely boys aged 10 and 8 years. The father who is of somali origin left kenya and came to the US under the UN relocation program. He has since changed his names, but I know he lives in Maine. he has been constantly sending $100 for child support which is too little to help my situation. He pays fees and thats it. Currently am out of a job and am really strugling with abject poverty... and no matter how much I try to plead with him to send me atleast$300 per month for our rent, food and medical expenses, he turns a deaf ear to me. My question is, is there any way that I can get the law to assist me get proper child support from him? I have struggled with the boys since the eldest was 2yrs and I really need some help just now. Thanks.

Re: Child Support
I am very sympathetic to your situation. The legal process to enforce child support is to first have the Court in your jurisdiction determine how much support is required and issue an Order. That order can then be filed in a Maine Court and enforced.
